From Bad Decisions To Success

Journey of Hope With Rodney Mathers (88)
Hello! Welcome to episode 88 of Journey of Hope With Rodney Mathers.
My guest this week, Jillian Bullock, was the daughter of mobster and she followed his lifestyle throughout her early life. Prostitution and drugs were the norm for her along with a series of other really bad choices. There was a point where she decided to change both her thinking and her lifestyle and move her life down a more positive path. Jillian is now a successful woman and on this week's show, we discuss the transformation that took place in her life.
By listening to the interview, I think you may find some tips on how to sustain the transformation you are making in your life right now.

Jennifer Maggio was a victim of childhood sexual abuse and had multiple teen pregnancies. If one had to predict in those days what her life would be like, I doubt anyone would have predicted the success she has enjoyed as a mother, wife, and through her ministry for single mothers.
Jennifer hasn't let the seemingless endless odds get in the way of moving forward and away from a diffulcult past. This is why I respect Jennifer so very much. She is without a doubt a "go getter" and a role model for those of us looking to put the past behind us refusing to let that past be an obsticle to a full and productive future.
For all of you single parents out there, she is an expert by experience and loves to share how she handled raising children while working and attending college.
Check out her web page for some free materials. http://www.jennifermaggio.com/

Welcome to this week's episode!
Do you let your felony conviction get in the way of realizing your dreams? I certainly hope not. I do realize however that it is easy to fall into the trap of letting the past consume us.
I don't do that anymore, but believe me, I useed to. I actually now see my situation as providing me with some opportunities that I most likely wouldn't have been able to persue had I never gone to prison.
If you haven't reached that point in your thinking or you just need a little encouragement ( we all need a little encouragement from time to time), then my interview this week with noted author Jim Donovan is for you. Jim wrote the best seller This Is Your Life Not A Dress Rehearsal and he has some great thoughts for ex-offenders.

Welcome to this week's episode!

Marriage after incarceration can be rough. My guests this week, Rev. Dr. Daniel and Penny Loosenort have written an excellent book that addresses issues like spousal roles, finances, and how to resolve conflict in a marriage. Even though Dr. Loosenort and Penny have not been incarcerated, their book is full of fantastic advice that can be used to most definately help a marriage after a period of incarceration.
Their book, We Promise is fantastic and I highly recommend it.

Welcome to this week's episode of Journey of Hope With Rodney Mathers!
Sometimes it's nice to hear how other people have overcome the adversity in their lives. We can look at just how they did it and maybe even find some tidbits of information that we can apply to our situation and struggles.
My guest this week, Donna Rinelli, has overcome adversity basically on her own and has written a book called Breath of a Child.
Of the dozens of self-help authors I have had on the show, Donna best nails it in my view. I really like how she focuses on healing through examining the past, then letting go of it. It's an effective way to get past incarceration because we should never forget what it was we did, but nevertheless, it's alright to put those days in our rear view mirror!

Welcome to this week's show!
Want some help dealing with stress? Well, I've got just the thing for you!
Ex-offenders and the people who support them know all  too well the pressures, and therefore stresses, associated with reintegration. It can literally be a killer. Everything from blood pressure to eating habits and social interaction skills can be negatively altered. Dealing with stresses in a way that doesn't lean on some sort of addiction can be tricky as well.
My guest this week, Heidi Thompson, has what just might be the answer for you. In her book Calm Focus Joy The Power Of Breath Awareness Heidi explains how a simple exercise can reduce stress and improve focus.
Join us this week for our discussion with Heidi Thompson and after the interview you can learn more about Heidi at the following link: Heidi Thompson

Welcome to this week's show!
My guest this week, Trish Jenkins, has been where we have been. A successful business woman and mother of three little girls, Trish was living well in Australia. Unfortunately, Trish made some bad decisions and the resulting consequences landed her in prison.
What I like about Trish is that she has since pulled herself up and once again become successful by reinventing herself.
Her story just may have some ideas you or a loved one can use in the reintegration process.
Be sure and check out Trish's web page.  She has several great books out and I encourage you to take a look at those as well.  I read her book, Treasures of Darkness, prior to our interview and I found it to be excellent for ex-offenders.  Just Click here: Trish Jenkins

Women: This Is How You Realize Your Dreams

Journey of Hope With Rodney Mathers (73)

Welcome to this week's show!
Want to realize your dreams?  My guest this week, Shanna Beaman, can help you get started on the path to do just that.  Shanna has some excellent insight on how women can begin the journey of realizing their dreams.
Shanna has fantastic advice on things like goal setting and time management skills.  Although Shanna has directed her work toward helping women realize their dreams, I found much of her discussion useful for men as well!  I also found Shanna's advice to be right on target for ex-offenders
